[Despite the recent events with Elios, Helisium was still going to happen later this month and preparations was already underway in the city. Curiosity led Naruhodou to investigate into what's being offered this year and somehow, he ends up on the dance floor.]

Wait, no, I can't...! [He waves his hands profusely at whomever decided to drag him up here. He didn't sign up for dance lessons!]

[The recent events with Elios was quite shocking, but she thought that Helisium was such a fantastic way to recover from what happened! It only made her admire this world even more.

It has been such a long time since she's participated in ballroom dancing and when she heard that dancing would be involved, she just had to participate! When she arrived at the dance floor, she was overcome with joy. She couldn't wait to start dancing!!

A nearby and totally familiar voice catches her attention and Sonia quickly turns her head towards the sound. She looked very pleased to see a friend of her's and she eagarly runs over to him.]

Naruhodou-san, are you here to dance as well?!

Huh? No, nonono! That's not it at all! [How many more are going to get the wrong idea!?]

I just--I just wanted to look around!

[She tilts her head slightly to the side, contemplating his words.]

Really? Pardon me for this, but if that's the case, why are you on the dance floor?

[There's a slight pause.]

Ah! Did you get dragged onto the dance floor?

Yes! That's exactly what happened! [He nods vigorously. Some of the people nearby start laughing and encouraging him.

"We all gotta learn at some point. Go on, kid!"]

N-Not here...!

[She glances over at the people that were laughing and encouraging him.

Then she looks over at Naruhodou with a smile.]

Are you nervous about dancing, Naruhodou-san?

[He looks sheepishly at Sonia as his shoulders slump.]

I'm...just not very good at it. I mean, dancing wasn't something I had to worry about knowing, you know, heh heh....

I understand that! Dancing is not something you do everyday, after all. So it's natural to not worry about that sort of thing.

[She ponders to herself for a few moments, she didn't want to seem pushy but she also didn't want him to feel pressured by the people who were dragging him to dance.]

I'm no professional, but would you like me to assist you? Only if you want to!

[Every part of his being wanted to say no, absolutely not. He can live without knowing how to dance. But then he could be caught in these awkward moments again. In a small voice.]

Maybe I should at least know the basics... [It's better than nothing, right? And it's Sonia offering to help, which does alleviate a little bit of the stress.]

Good thinking Naruhodou-san! There is nothing wrong with learning the basics. They might come in handy just in case you happen to attend a dance party.

[Poor Naruhodou, he looked so nervous about the idea she was almost beginning to hope that he wouldn't ever get dragged into a dance party.

She approaches him closer and extends her hand out to him.]

Just follow my lead and I'll do my best to teach you.

[He looks at her hand and then up to her with a nod. With a shaky hand he takes hers.]

Ok...I'll do my best and try not to trip over you! [He's sweating bullets, literally]

[In response to him taking her hand, she looks at him with a smile and returns the nod.]

Don't worry Naruhodou-san! I have full faith in you.

[She clasps onto her hand and holds it out, with her free left arm she places it on his shoulder.]

To begin, the best position for a slow dance is for you to place your free hand on that same arm. [Sonia then looks down at the position of their feet.] Also, it's best that our feet don't face each other toe to toe but rather like this.

[Sonia moves her right foot in between his two feet and her left foot beside his.]

Right... [His face was scrunched up in concentration as he looks down at his feet and then where he had his hands. So they're holding hands with this one, then this left hand should be on her shoulder? But her left hand was on his shoulder already. So then where does this go? Wait, she said to hold onto the same arm right?

He does so, but he has a feeling that's not what she meant. So he's looking at Sonia for more direction.]

[After her explanation, she glances at Naruhodou and takes note of his expression. Now that she's said it outloud, she wasn't sure if it made all that much sense.

It was probably easier to demonstrate, rather than explain. For a brief moment, she stops holding his hand and breaks contact with him. She moves his left arm in order to warp it around her waist. She goes back to holding onto his right hand and once again, places her free arm onto his shoulder.]

There we go! Does that feel more comfortable?

[He gives Sonia an apologetic look as she re-directs him, his face going red with embarrassment. At least the changes do feel right.]

It does! I had a feeling that's where my hand should have been, but I wasn't sure. [...] Ah, I guess this is where we start dancing?

It is no problemo, Naruhodou-san! It's my fault for not explaining it very well. If anything, it's a wonderful start that you had that feeling!

[Sonia's beaming at him. She had a feeling that Naruhodou was going to prevail at this.]

You are absolutely correct! We can start by doing the Waltz. The Waltz is usually known for it's three count beat and it's like a basic box step! So, just follow my lead.

[With fluid motions, Sonia steps foward with her left foot]

Now what you to do is step backwards with your right foot!

Three count beat? Box step? [The Waltz sounded familiar, but the western style was still a new concept in Japan.] Um, right, ok.

[Taking one step back shouldn't be too hard! He'll just wobble a little bit while doing so and checking where his feet are.]

You are doing good! Keep in mind that was the first count! A three count beat helps you stay in rhytmn of the dance.

[Explaining dancing was a lot harder than what she thought.]

Okay, we'll start the next beat. [Sonia begins to step forward and towards the right.] What you need to do is move your left foot back and towards the left, that way we are still facing each other.

Oh, I see now! [A count for each step! Makes perfect sense. Doing the actual steps is another thing. Somehow in his attempt to go left he ends up moving right.] Ah, wait you meant my left.

[He wobbles left instead, though he nearly trips on his own two feet.] Mm, sorry...

[Oh oops! Just to be on the safe side, she helps Naruhodou stay steady by holding onto his shoulder.]

It is of no problemo, Naruhodou-san! Learning the waltz is quite complicated and it's a common occurence to mess up on the steps.

[It took her some time to learn how to dance, after all.]

I'll be more than happy to try again.

[Were it not for Sonia's reassurance and encouragement, Naruhodou would probably have given up at this point. He's got someone willing to be patient with him, it's only right that he at least try. He nods.]

If you are, then I definitely want to continue. I'll get it right this time!

I believe in you! I have the utmost confidence in you and that you will get this right.

[A few tiny sparkles begin to radiate around her. She had full faith in him and not only that, she was having fun dancing with a friend of her's!]

We'll go back to the two count step. [Once again, Sonia moves to the right.] Now remember, when I move right like that, you move to the left with your foot facing mine.

[ Come on Christmas there is a bird that will come visit Sonia wearing a small Christmas hat! It's holding a bright blue present with a bow and drops right in front of her, and she'll find a Japanese yukata inside that holds a lot of appreciation.

[Sonia will find a small box wrapped in furoshiki on Christmas day. Inside is an assortment of handmade mochi and a chopstick hairpiece. A card is attached to the gift.]

[Left for Sonia on Christmas morning is a neatly wrapped package containing a book about urban legends and other spooky tales from Verens, and a pair of fashionable but warm black gloves. Along with it is a note, reading:]

This holiday isn't one celebrated in my galaxy, but a chance to show appreciation to those I've met here isn't one I can pass up. The book isn't quite like the films you mentioned at your party, but I hope you can enjoy it nonetheless.
